Hi everybody!
by Pickler inhi everybody.. well, i've been lurking for a few weeks & have made a few posts, so it's time to bravely introduce myself some more.... i was raised in the religion, baptized & then df'd in 1992. i live in sydney and youll be pleased to hear i have survived armageddon (also known as the hottest day on record for sydney 45.6c).. ive never looked at any witness related stuff online, but my son showed me something about the conti case and i was so intrigued!!!!
following links led me to this & other websites..... since then i have spent literally hours on the internet discovering all this information.
so many late nights/early mornings.

Just yelled at my mom today
by trujw insorry to post this but for some reason after a year of not talking i got drunk this morning(yeah i know no lecture) and called my mom and blew up.
i tolded her she was a false prophet and a horriable christian mother who never even came to her grandson's birth by my wife.
my words came out like a river of rage from which i never knew.

Stupid, stupid you.
Give the guy a break. He's a victim of the JW cult, and suddenly had a cathartic over the phone experience.

Need help!
by johnnyprc inhello - i was talking recently with my family on the 607/587 topic, and my mother asked me to read the latest defense from the wt through their 2 part article this past year.
anyway, i remember seeing something on the site that i thought did a great job refuting that, more specifically, one of the professors used by the wt who had wrote an email or something stating the wt misquoted her - does this ring a bell???.
i made light mention of this, and of course my parents said that was impossible - but this time they left the door open to re-discuss the issue in that they told me if i could find such a reference they would let me show them.. i really hope someone knows where this is..

Seems like a few weeks back there was a female sociologist or something that the WTS misquoted over the pedophile issue.

Belief-wise I thought it was still the truth, but I had seen so much BS and disfunction in the JW religion that I resigned as elder and got my whole family out in Oct 1995. Haven't been to a meeting or memorial since. It was a leap of faith to leave the JW's cold turkey like that, and I am forever grateful to JWN & members for helping me see TTATT when I first started coming to this site.

not seeing the forest for the trees
by El_Guapo insometimes when you are in the borg, you miss the obvious.
i recall a sheperding call around sept. 2001. i was a brand-new m.s.
and went with an older elder.

Just think of how much money the members of a JW congregation wastes buying WTS literature ,and the gas money it cost to drive around giving it away to uninterested people in the hopes of getting a convert. This money could be collected and put to much greater benefit helping their own in need.

by Honeybucket inabout six months ago i deactivated my facebook account.
i got tired of witnesses reading my posts, taking it the wrong way, and then going to the elders about it.
and they share it with others in the hall.

Facebook and not wanting JW's to know anything about your life usually doesn't work.

NWT translates it "mental regulating"......because, "brainwashing" would just be too obvious.

What is your daily commute, and how long does it take you
by coffee_black inmine is 25 miles each way.
it can take anywhere from a half hour to an hour and a half each way depending on traffic.
there is no way way to get here by public transportation.. sigh~ .

My total communte from home to office is probably 35 clicks. I work in the oil sands industry in Fort McMurray, which is in upper Alberta. Canada. This is a relatively small town, but the traffc here can be brutal at times. I started out with a company issued 4X4 truck, but in an effort with the local govt. to reduce traffic, our trucks were limited to on-site use only, and we were put on the busing routes.
The busing effort here is absolutely huge. I'm talking touring coaches picking up thousands of employees day & night. (wifi onboard) If you go in early enough the traffic is not too bad, but after 6 AM the traffic is crazy. Most rides home encounter traffic jams when you hit town. The average ride home is 45 minutes. An interesting fact about working in the oil sands industr is that all employees are offered FREE transportation to work & back.
